Line CHE begins with Nesting Topper (about 1907) and the Line have taken it's name from his renowned great-great grandson Chestnut Rainbow (photo 1 - left). In these early days it was of course bred very close and the history tells that Rainbows parents was litter sister and brother - and Rainbow was mated to a full-sister of his parents. This full-sister is Chestnut Sweet Lady, Family 3, and the history tells that she was a collie......

It was 7 puppies in this litter by Chestnut Rainbow out of Chestnut Sweet Lady, one of the puppies was the bitch Redbraes Magda, Family 3. (She became grandmother of Ch Max of Clerwood belonging to Line BB). Line CHE also had influence on Family 4 as Ch Tilford Tontine (a daughter of Rainbow) belongs to this Family. On Family 8 we have Tango of Houghton Hill (black and tan) who was a grand daughter of Rainbow .......

Rainbow's son Nut of Houghton Hill became father of Ch Uam Var of Houghton Hill (photo 2) - who's mother was a daughter of Nut... You may find it quite confusing when I tell about all this names and relationship but I think it tells very clear that Line CHE, Line BB and the Families are quite close related from the beginning.

Ch Moneyspinner
of Exford

The history tells that Ch Uam Var of Houghton Hill (Photo 2) was a small, robust dog, with a first class head and had very nice eyes and ears. His coat is told to be enormous. He was a great stud dog and 14 of his progeny made a lasting impression in England - three became Champions and three won CC's but it is his other progeny who lead branches to the many winners. As earlier told he had great influence both on Line CHE and Line BB and also in a lot of the Families - I can mention that his daughter Ch Blue Blossom of Houghton Hill is one of the early bitches on Family 9.

Uam Var's son Golden Spider of Houghton Hill was never shown and it is told that he was too big - the history tells that it was Collie blood very close on his dam side (too !)

Golden Spider's son (photo 4) Ch Moneyspinner of Exford (Family 8) was a very intelligent dog with great character. He followed his owner Mrs Sangster (kennel Exford) where ever she went - even at cinema. He was of very good type with a very nice head and nice ears but they were probably a bit big. He was shaded sable - but he carried not much coat.

(Photo 7) Ch Viking of Melvaig

Moneyspinner's son (photo 5) Ch Riverhill Rufus (Family 6) was smaller than his father. He had a lot more coat but he didn't have any undercoat. His colour was read golden. He had a very nice head with a very sweet expression. Rufus was kennel Riverhill's first Champion - and it is told that he is behind every Riverhill-dog !

R.Rufus's son Rufus of Edingley was never shown. He had as nice head like his father but it is supposed that it was Collie blood very close as his mother had a collie look and it is told that she also was big. His grandson
(photo 6) Ch Delwood Terrence (Family 4) is grandfather to (photo 7) Ch Viking of Melvaig (Family 9). Viking was dark sable and had a very good coat. He was small in size and had a first class head and very nice eyes. His weak point is told to be his hocks. He was monorkid.

From two of Vikings sons Ch Dilhorne Norseman of Melvaig (photo 8) and Ch Wattawoodcut (photo 12) there are branches down to two English dogs imported to respectively Sweden in 1975 and Norway in 1984, lnt Nord Ch Deloraine Dog Star (photo 11) and N S Ch Lythwood Stiletto (photo 16), both made a great influence to the breed in Norway. Behind Int Nord Uch Deloraine Dog Star (photo 11) there are names like: (photo 8) Ch Dilhorne Norseman of Melvaig (Family 8) son of Viking. (Photo 9) Ch Riverhill Rogue (Family 24) grandson of Norseman - and (photo 10) Ch Kinreen Blue Kestrel (Family 9) son of Rogue.
